Modular Libraries Promised for Shaw, After Years of a Closed Watha T. Daniel Branch

The temporary library is to be placed on the grounds of Shaw Junior High, 925 Rhode Island Ave NW., will add to services already offered by a bookmobile parked at 1401 7th Street NW.

Many residents doubt the wisdom of placing modular libraries -- why not rent a storefront space that would help revitalize the 1700 or 1800 block of 7th Street NW, similar to the temporary "storefront library" that is planned for Tenleytown?

And that does not even begin to address the larger outrage of why Watha T. Daniel Library has been left closed for years (and allowed to languish for years before that).
