This year's Washington Auto Show, a holiday season tradition in DC, is at the Washington Convention Center in Shaw until Sunday, January 4, 2004. Hosted by the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association, the 62nd staging of the auto show showcases over 700 makes and models from 37 manufacturers. The theme of this year's show is "History with a Future."

An annual crowd favorite at the Washington Auto Show, the Hands On Contest will give away four new cars this year, reserving one model to be won by a member of the military serving overseas. This year, contest organizers will reserve one car for entrants from the US military now serving overseas who will be represented in the contest by a family member here at home.

The 2004 Washington Auto Show/DC Lottery Second Chance Drawing will award a free 2004 Ford Thunderbird to one lucky winner. Now in its fourth year, the Washington Auto Show and DC Lottery partnership will launch the "$5.00 Auto Show Instant Scratch ticket" with a chance to win $25,000 instantly. This ticket and partnership will award an estimated $1.7 million in total cash prizes. One non-winning $5.00 Auto Show ticket will be drawn at random to win the Second Chance Drawing grand prize, a 2004 Ford Thunderbird, courtesy of the Washington Area Ford Dealers. The contest also offers a second prize of $3,000 in cash and a third prize of $1,500 worth of free gasoline.
