Convention Center
The Fourth Annual Safeway Feast of Sharing and Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW. The Thanksgiving meal will take place from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The Job Fair will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This event, jointly sponsored by Safeway and the Salvation Army, features a hot Thanksgiving meal, a job fair, and health screenings for District of Columbia residents in need. This year's goal is to serve a hot Thanksgiving meal to 5,000 people (last year, 3,000 were served). At least 500 volunteers are needed to assist with the Feast of Sharing. Roles for volunteers include, but are not limited to:
* Greeters
* Hosts/Hostesses
* Table Servers
* Dish-Up Servers
* Runners
* Volunteer Registration Assistants
* Stock Area Monitors
Plan to wear very comfortable shoes. Volunteers can serve for the entire duration of the Feast of Sharing or only a couple of hours. Each volunteer receives a commemorative apron to wear throughout the Feast of Sharing and to keep at the end of the event.
Volunteers must report to Volunteer Check-In at Meeting Room 204B/C to receive their assignment. A volunteer training session is scheduled at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at the Washington Convention Center. This training session will acquaint volunteers with the tasks to be done, the roles they will play, and familiarize them with the event set-up.
